八桂大地,喜悦连连。近期,在广西百色市西林县普合乡的咖啡基地里,红亮的鲜果缀满枝头,迎来丰收的喜悦。广西句町咖啡发展贸易有限公司总经理农前朝一边察看果实成色,一边向科技日报记者介绍:“我们主推的卡蒂姆品种,浓而不苦、香而不烈,放凉了更显清甜。”
这缕“咖香”,是广西咖啡产业发展的生动写照。广西咖啡研究中心主任覃剑峰表示:“依托全产业链科研平台,广西正让‘小咖啡’孕育出乡村振兴与特色产业发展的‘大潜力’。”
科技育种筑牢产业根基
“我的咖啡事业始于一次‘不服气’的尝试。”农前朝回忆道,2018年,他的父辈从云南引种咖啡失败,他接手后又遭遇霜冻,最终仅有两株苗幸存。后来,在多次试种后,他才逐步摸索出适宜种植的区域与品种。这段经历让农前朝深刻地意识到:产业要长远发展,仅靠“土办法”远远不够,科技支撑必须及时跟上。
转机出现在2024年。随着广西对咖啡产业发展的重视,广西咖啡研究中心应运而生。该中心依托广西亚热带作物研究所,构建起覆盖种质资源收集、品种选育、栽培技术、加工研发的咖啡全产业链科研平台,为产业发展注入了强劲支撑。
走进广西咖啡研究中心种苗繁育研究基地,80多份育种材料正被整齐培育,科研人员正俯身观察植株生长状态。广西咖啡研究中心常务副主任宾振钧告诉记者,这些汇聚国内外优质资源的材料,是广西咖啡品种本土化选育的“希望种子”。
“咖啡育种是慢功夫,培育一个成熟稳定的新品种,往往需要多年持续选育与测试。”宾振钧说。目前,该中心已保存112份咖啡种质资源,建成广西首个咖啡种质资源圃。不仅如此,该中心的育种、栽培、加工三大专业团队也在同步攻坚:繁育区域试验用苗2.5万株,袋苗移栽成活率达98%;创新培育出两年生大苗,让咖啡树抗逆性更强、挂果更早,大幅缩短农户回报周期;栽培团队攻关水肥一体化技术,力求形成可复制、可推广的标准化栽培体系。
从当年仅存的两株苗,到如今科研平台的有力支撑,农前朝对产业未来充满信心。他展望道:“之后我们将持续与研究所紧密合作,进一步筛选培育适应性更强、风味更佳的本土品种。”
全链创新做强特色品牌
科研支撑正加速转化为产业动力。如今,西林县咖啡种植面积已达2100亩。“投入低收益高,让农户的种植积极性十分高涨。”农前朝说。
放眼全区,广西咖啡种植面积已突破3700亩,近5年平均增长率达48.62%。东兴咖啡入选全国名特优新农产品名录,容县、南宁、崇左等地也在稳步推进种植探索。
产业规模持续扩大,发展前路在何方?“广西不做云南、海南的‘复刻版’,要做特色化的‘创新版’。”覃剑峰表示,作为新兴产区,广西避开规模竞争的赛道,聚焦高价值、精品化发展方向。
为推动广西咖啡产业高质量发展,2025年12月,广西壮族自治区农业农村厅公布《广西壮族自治区咖啡产业发展规划(2025—2030年)》(征求意见稿),面向社会公开征集意见与建议。
围绕规划思路,广西咖啡研究中心着力打造区域公共品牌,设计出融合“咖啡”与“大咖”双关意涵的“大咖雪杯”视觉标识。在加工环节,科研平台联合企业加快技术攻关,突破挂耳咖啡、咖啡固体饮料生产关键技术,共开发出7个咖啡产品,其中4个已实现产业化应用。此外,当地创新推出的桂花、茉莉等“花咖”系列产品,将广西特色花卉与咖啡风味深度融合,进一步丰富了产品体系。
更具创新性的是广西首创的“咖啡研究庄园”模式。广西壮族自治区亚热带作物研究所负责人介绍,该模式融合科研、示范、体验与文旅,展示智能种植技术,让游客沉浸式体验从咖啡鲜果采摘到饮品的全流程。同时,庄园也是人才培养基地,通过开展培训课程输送专业人才,推动广西咖啡产业向高质量、高附加值方向迈进。记者 韦秋莹 刘 昊 通讯员 刘思朝

Technology breeding builds a solid foundation for the industry

In the end, only two seedlings survived. Later, after multiple trials, he gradually explored suitable planting areas and varieties. This experience made Nong Qianchao deeply realize that in order for the industry to develop in the long run, relying solely on "local methods" is far from enough, and technological support must keep up in a timely manner.

The turning point will occur in 2024. With the increasing emphasis on the development of the coffee industry in Guangxi, the Guangxi Coffee Research Center has emerged. The center, relying on the Guangxi Subtropical Crop Research Institute, has built a scientific research platform covering the entire coffee industry chain, including germplasm resource collection, variety selection, cultivation technology, and processing research and development, injecting strong support into the development of the industry.

Entering the Seed Breeding Research Base of Guangxi Coffee Research Center, more than 80 breeding materials are being neatly cultivated, and researchers are bending down to observe the growth status of plants. Bin Zhenjun, Executive Deputy Director of Guangxi Coffee Research Center, told reporters that these materials, which gather high-quality resources at home and abroad, are the "hope seeds" for the localization and breeding of coffee varieties in Guangxi.

Coffee breeding is a slow process, cultivating a mature and stable new variety often requires years of continuous breeding and testing, "said Bin Zhenjun. At present, the center has preserved 112 coffee germplasm resources and built the first coffee germplasm resource garden in Guangxi. Whole chain innovation strengthens distinctive brands

In order to promote the high-quality development of the coffee industry in Guangxi, in December 2025, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region announced the "Development Plan for the Coffee Industry in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (2025-2030)" (draft for soliciting opinions) and publicly solicited opinions and suggestions from the society.

Based on the planning concept, Guangxi Coffee Research Center focuses on building a regional public brand and designing a visual identity of "Big Coffee Snow Cup" that combines the pun of "coffee" and "big coffee". In the processing stage, the research platform has collaborated with enterprises to accelerate technological breakthroughs and break through key technologies in the production of hanging ear coffee and solid coffee beverages. A total of 7 coffee products have been developed, of which 4 have been industrialized and applied. In addition, the locally innovative "flower coffee" series products such as osmanthus and jasmine deeply integrate Guangxi's characteristic flowers with coffee flavors, further enriching the product system.

More innovative is the "Coffee Research Estate" model pioneered by Guangxi.
