In early June, Xinzhai Village in Lujiang Town, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province, was bathed in the warmth and brightness of a subtropical hot and dry valley, backed by Gaoligong Mountain and facing the Nujiang Grand Canyon. More than ten thousand acres of coffee trees were lush with branches and leaves. Although the fruits were not yet ripe, the green fruits hanging from the branches indicated that a few months later, another bumper harvest would be in sight.
Halfway up the mountain by the river, in a caf é nestled under a huge century old banyan tree, Mr. Zhang from Shenzhen enjoys the beautiful countryside scenery surrounded by fruit trees and surrounded by mountains and waters, while savoring the coffee in his hand. There is a unique fruity aroma, not too sour, and it has a sweet aftertaste! "He said. This coffee bean is a unique variety cultivated by Baoshan Gongjiang Coffee Plantation in Xinzhai Village.
Xinzhai Village has a history of coffee cultivation for over 70 years, with 502 households and 2082 people. The coffee planting area exceeds 13600 acres, and almost every household grows coffee. Nowadays, 6 boutique coffee estates and 10 specialty coffee shops have been built, paving the way for the integration of boutique planting and coffee tourism. It receives more than 200000 tourists every year and enjoys the reputation of "China's First Coffee Village". Our annual coffee production is 4000 tons, and by 2025, our coffee output value has reached 250 million yuan, "said Shao Weibin, Secretary of the Xinzhai Village Party Branch and Director of the Village Committee.

Xinhua News Agency reported that the aroma of coffee is everywhere in Xinzhai Village, with coffee themed graffiti embellishing it, full of artistic and romantic atmosphere. However, this is not something that can be achieved overnight. The villages that used to cultivate coffee extensively are now undergoing a transformation along the path of refinement. Once upon a time, farmers here only focused on yield and not quality, with extensive management and low quality. Coffee beans could not be sold at a high price and could only be sold as low-priced raw materials. Even during the downturn of the coffee industry, coffee farmers were forced to abandon planting on a large scale.
In order to completely reverse this situation, the village committee led farmers on the path of high-quality transformation, implemented standardized planting management, introduced and promoted high-quality varieties such as Guixia, Bourbon, and Sachim... As the quality improved, the price of coffee beans also increased year by year, and the per capita annual income of villagers exceeded 40000 yuan, 15 times that of 10 years ago. More and more young people from Xinzhai Village who previously worked outside are returning to their hometowns to invest in the coffee industry. Shao Weibin introduced, "In the past, farmers mainly engaged in primary production, but now they are starting to engage in secondary and tertiary production. We want to expand the number of coffee shops to 100
The altitude difference of Lujiang Dam, where Xinzhai Village is located, is significant, generally ranging from 640 meters to 1400 meters above sea level, with a large temperature difference between day and night. Shao Weibin said that although coffee can be grown in low altitude areas, its quality is not as good as in higher altitude areas. Xinzhai Village has implemented three industries for this, planting tropical fruits below 800 meters above sea level, off-season vegetables and fruits between 800 and 1000 meters, and small coffee above 1000 meters. Because small grain coffee is the best in this area, with a sufficient growth cycle and a relatively rich sweetness and fullness, "he said.

As the core production area of Baoshan coffee, "fragrant but not bitter, strong but not intense, and slightly fruity" has become the signature flavor of Baoshan coffee and even Yunnan coffee, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The efforts of Xinzhai Village to pursue quality and adhere to high-quality cultivation are a microcosm of Baoshan Small Grain Coffee. Longyang District, Baoshan City, where Xinzhai Village is located, has achieved a dual improvement in the scale and production capacity of the coffee industry. The coffee quality rate and deep processing rate have reached 80% and 90% respectively, and the comprehensive output value of the entire industry chain will reach 19.992 billion yuan by 2025.
The 10th China South Asia Expo is about to be held, and Xinzhai Village will showcase numerous coffee products, along with coffee companies such as Zhongka from Baoshan, Gongjiang Coffee Plantation from Baoshan, Guoxin Cat Shit Coffee, and well-known IP "Uncle Coffee" Li Jinhe, to recommend the taste of high-quality Baoshan small grain coffee to the world.
