How would you open the World Cup?
A recently opened coffee shop on He Mao Road in Xihu District, Hangzhou, unexpectedly became popular due to the World Cup big screen viewing event and became a recommended "spectator friendly store" on social media platforms.
There is no minimum cost or nationality limit here, and dozens of unfamiliar fans can squeeze into this small space, clapping and cheering for a goal, and the warmth flows as they give up their seats due to relocation.
The World Cup is like a social media that brings back the warmth of face-to-face communication, "said Mr. Ni, the owner of the coffee shop.
During the day, self-study and at night, watching football, coffee shops have transformed into "World Cup living rooms"
There are World Cup stickers on the glass doors, flags of various countries hanging indoors, and decorations such as football and trophies adorn the space... A originally leisurely and simple coffee shop has been transformed into a lively "World Cup living room".
Respondent provided pictures
Mr. Ni, the shop owner, is a film and television director who graduated from a professional class. He and his partners converted the first floor of the film and television company into a caf é, originally for chatting and gathering with friends. Coincidentally with the start of the World Cup, he decided to temporarily renovate this space.

What's even more special is that the modified viewing event is open for free. Whether or not you go to the store for consumption, as long as you love football, you can walk into the coffee shop and watch the game together. There is no minimum spending or any restrictions, ordering a cup of coffee or just sitting down to enjoy the game is entirely voluntary for customers. I would rather have everyone come here and get to know each other because of the World Cup than just the revenue, "Mr. Ni said.
He posted the viewing event on social media, and many fans from different professions and countries came in one after another. Among them, there are international students from Thailand, Mexico, Uzbekistan, South Korea and other countries who are currently studying at Zhejiang University. They study in coffee shops during the day, prepare for Chinese exams, and watch football together at night, joining the carnival of the World Cup.
'Unbounded, let's enjoy and burn together', this is also the charm of the World Cup
Why is the World Cup so fascinating? Some people say it's the ups and downs of 90 minutes; Some people say it was tears welling up in their eyes at the final whistle. But in this small coffee shop, the World Cup brings the simplest and most precious connection between people.
During the break of watching the game, strangers started chatting about the teams they supported, sharing their most memorable World Cup, and discussing the brilliant goals they scored just now. Some people take the initiative to greet foreign friends around them, while others open the conversation with the question 'Which team do you support?'.
When watching the game on June 28th. Respondent provided pictures
The competition on June 28th attracted nearly 50 people to fill the small shop. Although we didn't know each other before, we naturally started chatting as soon as we sat down. The Portuguese fans who were originally sitting in the front row during the match between Portugal and Colombia took the initiative to stand up and give the front seat to the Argentine fans when the Argentine team played.
At the moment when the Argentine team scored, the entire stadium erupted with cheers, applause, and clinking cups almost simultaneously. At that moment, no matter which team they support, everyone will clap and hug each other.
The feeling of looking forward to and cheering with a group of people online is completely different. Nowadays, everything can be solved online, which makes offline communication more meaningful. Taking advantage of the World Cup as an opportunity to rediscover the feeling of face-to-face communication between people, "Mr. Ni sighed." We need collective empathy, and loneliness will be dissolved by the collective. People who usually have no intersection have connections because of the same passion.
Mr. Ni's definition of the World Cup in his mind is' boundless joy and shared combustion '.

This summer, coffee shops are not just watching competitions, but also experiencing warm moments of crossing borders and sharing passion.
This coffee shop has only been open for two months, and the World Cup viewing event is also being held for the first time. Mr. Ni said that he wants to plan more interesting activities in the future to attract more customers to gather here and continue this face-to-face touching experience.
