The first self operated export of roasted coffee beans from Ethiopia to Xiangjiang Chongqing
First Sight TV - Hualong Network News (Chief Reporter Cao Yu and Intern Yan Xuepei) Recently, a batch of coffee beans produced in Ethiopia crossed mountains and seas to Chongqing, and after fine roasting and processing, they were successfully cleared through customs and sent to Hong Kong, China. This is the first time that Chongqing has independently exported roasted coffee beans, marking the extension of the industrial chain from raw material imports to finished product exports in Chongqing's coffee trade. The Shancheng coffee industry has taken a crucial step on the path of internationalization.
Ren Shujun, the person in charge of Yegu Coffee (Chongqing) Co., Ltd., introduced that relying on the industrial advantages of deep cultivation in Africa for many years, it has changed the traditional mode of relying on intermediaries for procurement and difficult to control the quality of raw materials throughout the process. It has established a quality control center in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, formed a resident bean search team, laid out its own coffee plantation, and established long-term cooperative relationships with local core production areas, opened up direct procurement channels for raw materials, and controlled quality from the source.
From its African origin straight to the Chongqing factory, each green bean releases a rich aroma through the rotation and rolling of the baking machine, completing the transformation from raw materials to finished products. Previously, the company's roasted coffee bean products were mainly aimed at the domestic market. This is the first attempt at export, and facing new challenges from processing to customs clearance, from standards to market, the company is both hopeful and concerned. After learning about the export intention of the enterprise, the two Cuntan Customs under Chongqing Customs took the initiative to follow up throughout the process, and tailored a "one factory, one product, one policy" assistance plan based on "what the enterprise lacks and what the customs can help" - from the production workshop to the testing laboratory, from regulatory interpretation to customs clearance process, guiding the enterprise to overcome the "last mile" of export one by one.
Due to not having conducted any export business before, we were initially unsure. The customs explained Hong Kong's relevant regulations and export precautions thoroughly, giving us the confidence to export. "Ren Shujun sighed," Next, we will expand the scope of imported products and sales network, forming an industrial model of 'importing from Ethiopia, processing in Chongqing, and exporting globally'
Hong Kong is one of the most important markets for mainland coffee and product exports. The successful export of the first batch of roasted coffee beans from Chongqing to Hong Kong is another practical achievement in the economic and trade exchanges between Chongqing and Hong Kong.
The relevant person in charge of Lianglu Cuntan Customs stated that in the next step, the customs will continue to escort enterprises to take the path of branding and refinement, track changes in overseas market technical standards and tariff policies in real time, transmit cutting-edge information to enterprises in the first time, and help Chongqing's coffee industry expand its international market.
From plantations in Ethiopia, to baking factories in Chongqing, to the consumer market in Hong Kong, China - a single coffee bean strung together is an industrial chain spanning across Africa, inland China, and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. It is also a vivid footnote to the high-level opening up of customs services to the outside world and the assistance of enterprises in integrating into the new development pattern of domestic and international dual circulation.
