Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, August 24th: When robots begin to "understand life"

Long queues formed in front of the pancake fruit robot booth, and exoskeleton assistive devices helped the elderly climb stairs... At the 2026 World Robot Conference, products that are close to residential consumption scenarios can be seen everywhere, and cutting-edge technology is being transformed into everyday life that ordinary people can touch, extending to people's livelihood scenarios.

New technological experiences in food, drink, and entertainment

Entering the robot consumption street created for the first time at the conference, multiple robots have transformed into "chefs", making various delicacies such as coffee, pancakes, and marshmallows on site. In front of the pancake fruit robot booth, many people held their phones to record the entire process of making pancakes. Mr. Liu, a resident of Beijing, took a bite of the freshly baked pancake and said, "It tastes good. It's hard to imagine that it was made by a robot

The painting robot can complete portrait painting in just a few seconds, and the exhibition area is filled with a dazzling array of 3D printed toys. For the audience, robots are no longer an unattainable cutting-edge concept, but rather a cup of coffee, a pancake, a toy - visible, tasted, and easy to take away.

The consumption street adopts an indoor and outdoor dual block layout, creating an immersive consumption scene of 'technology+food+cultural and creative', "said Meng Yanpei, Director of the Commercial Operations Department of Beijing Yizhuang Robot Technology Industry Development Co., Ltd. The outdoor consumption area focuses on the" fireworks atmosphere ", with various popular snacks, cold drinks and desserts to meet the dining needs of the audience. Indoor neighborhoods focus on real-life applications of robot services, such as welcoming robots providing guided tours and AI traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment robots offering health advice. We hope to promote the transformation of robots from exhibits to consumer goods, allowing audiences to experience the practical value of robots in fields such as catering, healthcare, and home up close, "he said.

Robots are moving from booth demonstrations to real life, "said Duan Yanbiao, Chief Product Officer of Yunji Technology. The diverse consumer scenarios are making the industry face the demands of the real world.

Intelligent equipment alleviates pain points in elderly care and medical care

If recreational robots bring a sense of novelty, robots in the medical and health field focus on people's basic needs in life.

The speed assisted exoskeleton wearable device exhibited by the 21st Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation can provide gentle thrust for users to walk. This device is designed for optimizing algorithms for climbing and mountain climbing scenarios, and can automatically adapt to flat ground, climbing, mountain climbing, and other scenarios without the need for manual switching. Liu Kaixuan, the product manager of the institute, stated that the product has been piloted in some streets of Huangpu District, Shanghai, to benefit the elderly population.

Another convenient service that is close to the people is the intelligent dental service cabin created by Feiba Technology, a Beijing Yizhuang enterprise. The car is equipped with dental chairs, dental implant robots, and oral CBCT (Oral Maxillofacial Cone Beam CT), which can cover everything from teeth cleaning to dental implant design. Many elderly people find it troublesome to go to the hospital, so we park our cars downstairs in the community and provide basic diagnosis before recommending medical treatment, "said Chen Yizhou, senior product manager of the company. The company is exploring pilot projects around Beijing, where basic diagnosis, screening, and dental cleaning can be provided in the community.

The key to robots' landing in people's livelihoods lies not in the stacking of technical parameters, but in whether they can find real, high-frequency, and unmet pain points, "said Xiong Youjun, General Manager of the National Local Joint Construction Intelligent Robot Innovation Center.

The landing of robots is not just a technical proposition, but also a proposition for business model and institutional innovation - only when enterprises dare to invest, users can afford it, and supporting facilities can robots truly enter life from exhibitions.

Robots shift from tools to life participants

At the venue, children played games with robots, and the interaction between humans and machines was full of fun; Robot dogs can complete multiple interactive tasks such as following companions and environmental inspections, and flexibly shuttle around the exhibition area; Humanoid robots can perform daily life operations such as heating bread and folding clothes, bringing future home life scenes to the audience.

Robots are not just cold machines, they can also have warmth. "Several on-site viewers believe that from teaching enlightenment, emotional companionship to home services, robots are surpassing their" tool "positioning and becoming participants in life.

The emergence of robots in different forms is a microcosm of the resonance between policy orientation and market demand. In order to promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and consumption, the Ministry of Commerce and eight other departments have issued the "Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development of 'Artificial Intelligence+Consumption'", proposing to accelerate the application demonstration of new artificial intelligence products such as elderly care robots, companion robots, and artificial intelligence life assistants for key groups such as' one elderly and one young ', and enhance their abilities in emotional companionship, health monitoring, mobility assistance, and smart household chores.

In the short term, household robots will first enter people's homes with companionship and human-computer interaction capabilities, gradually completing simple home tasks. "Xi Yue, co-founder of Xingdong Era, said that as the supporting business model becomes increasingly perfect, it will help accelerate the landing of household robots in home scenarios.

Industry insiders believe that the current strong demand and diverse scenarios in the field of people's livelihood are key breakthroughs in unleashing the potential of new quality productivity. Livelihood service robots will become an important carrier for integrating new quality productivity into the social operation system and realizing value transformation. When hardcore technology reaches ordinary people in the most down-to-earth way, robots will better benefit humanity.
