A 70 year old retired man from Chengdu has become popular selling coffee, with a latte costing only 6 yuan per cup

A unremarkable community coffee shop near Huanhua Creek in Chengdu has recently become popular on social media. What made this store famous was not the exquisite store decoration, but its owner - Mr. Hu, who is over seventy years old.
On the afternoon of August 24th at 4 o'clock, which was originally the opening time of the small shop, the reporter saw many customers who came to the store out of admiration and lined up at the entrance. Hurriedly rushing to open the door, Mr. Hu smiled apologetically and said to the waiting guests, "Oh, I fell asleep. I'm really sorry
This community coffee shop is not large in size, but the desktop and operation desk are spotless. The bar counter does not have electronic ordering devices, and a handwritten menu is laid flat on the table, simple and plain. The store only offers 4 types of coffee, with latte priced at only 6 yuan.
There are various ornaments and old utensils placed in the corners and shelves of the store. These small items were all picked up by Mr. Hu from the internet in his spare time, adding a full sense of life to the small shop.
The reporter learned that Mr. Hu has been retired for more than 10 years and only ventured into the coffee industry earlier this year. This coffee shop was originally run by his daughter, who was on a trip and temporarily entrusted the store to Mr. Hu to take care of. At first, Grandpa Hu just planned to come over and take care of the store. Unexpectedly, the footage captured by netizens spread widely on the internet, causing the small shop to unexpectedly become popular. Mr. Hu was then "forced to take up his post" and was responsible for the daily operation of the coffee shop.
According to nearby merchants, the opening hours of this store were very flexible before, and there was no fixed time for opening and closing. As more and more tourists from all over the country clock in, many of them come from afar but end up empty handed. In order not to disappoint guests who come from afar, Mr. Hu has set fixed business hours -10am to 12pm and 4pm to 7pm.
The coffee, naan, and bread in the store are all handmade by Mr. Hu. The entire process of kneading noodles, roasting, and making coffee is slow and effortless. At the control desk, Mr. Hu lowered his head and focused on the task at hand. His movements were not agile, and the pace of serving was slow. But the waiting customers were hardly urged, either sitting quietly or chatting softly, patiently waiting for the food and coffee to come out.
The reporter saw on site that most of the customers who came to the store for consumption were young people. After finishing his work, Grandpa Hu would lean against the bar and form a dragon gate formation with the young people, chatting about their experiences and anecdotes from all over the world.
Many people rush to this small shop, not just for a cheap cup of coffee priced at 6 yuan. The farthest customer comes from Xinjiang, who has tasted my coffee and naan, and has given positive reviews. "Speaking of the customers who came from afar, Mr. Hu's words are full of pride. Many customers feel that there is no tension like a chain commercial coffee shop here, and instead, a relaxed and down-to-earth atmosphere feels like being at home.
Currently, the coffee industry mostly pursues turnover rate and competes for traffic marketing, but Mr. Hu's small shop stands out from the crowd. Don't panic, don't get involved in business, and don't excessively pursue impressive revenue. For him, guarding this small shop, having customers come to him, being able to chat about daily life, and living a lively and fulfilling life is his ideal retirement life.
I think it's quite good to be able to make some healthy and delicious food now. If I can, I will persist in making it, "said Uncle Hu
