In 1985, the Jiangjin County Committee made a decision that was almost self cutting: to completely stop logging, close mountains for afforestation, and develop tourism.

Over the past 40 years, Simianshan has completed a natural forest protection project covering 56000 acres, with a forest stock volume of 2.0238 million cubic meters, a forest coverage rate of 99.95%, and a stable concentration of negative oxygen ions at 29000 per cubic centimeter.
